The high alpine meadows teeming with Gentians, Edelweiss and Saxifrage are amongst the most beautiful of the alps. Emerging from the dense larch forests, the colourful meadows and views are a sight to behold. Climb further and you reach the dry, bright white and yellow screes beneath the rock walls of these mountains. The diversity of the landscape here makes for truly spectacular scenery which draws in hill walkers and mountain goers from all over the world. From the deep shady valleys to the desert like high altitude plateaus, there is something for everybody.

In the immediate vicinity of Casa Alfredino there is plenty to do for those who prefer to set out on foot. You can take gentle walks up Val Pettorina besides the tumbling river to the village of Sottoguda, then onwards through the famous gorge to Malga Ciapela at the foot of Marmolada. From here, climb upwards to see the vast south wall of this stunning mountain, catch the cable car up to the open air WW1 museum or just relax with a cold beer and absorb the great views! In addition with a short drive to Laste di Sotto, take the forestry road up to Rifugio Mignon and stroll up beyond the tree line for stunning views of Monte Pelmo and Civetta. Vigorous or relaxed, you choose!
